Education Minister Shaik Baksh has appealed for a renewed vigour, dedication and commitment from teachers to “reignite the flame in education” to inspire a better performance from their charges in 2011.

Education Minister Shaik Baksh yesterday underscored the need for effective leadership on the part of headteachers to maximize the potential of their teachers and to ensure better learning outcomes from students.
The Ministry of Education in keeping with its trust to offer students an alternative pathway of study and curb the drop-out rate at the secondary level will be introducing the Secondary Competency Certificate Programme (SCCP) in 14 more schools this year.
