In order to stop school dropouts and promote education a La Penitence Academic Awards ceremony 2016 was hosted for the first time by Influential Millennial in collaboration with the Office of the Prime Minister (PM) and Essential Care Agency.The event was graced by the presence of Prime Minister Moses Nagamootoo and his wife, Mrs. Sita Nagamootoo. It was held at 175 Middle Road La Penitence.

Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) examination performer is a product of St. Rose’s High School. While the institution has over the years had students among the top performing CSEC candidates, it has surpassed expectations this year.
And claiming the top spot this year is 16-year-old Fatima Karim of Tucville, Georgetown.
Karim’s name led a list of candidates, many of whom hailed from traditional top performing schools such as Queen’s College (QC) and more recently the Sarawati Vidya Niketan (SVN) Hindu School.

...English improves, Mathematics declines

An analysis of the 2016 Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) examination, has revealed a marginal increase in the overall pass rate at the General and Technical proficiencies for Grade One to Three. This year the pass rate is 63.39 per cent while it was 62.72 per cent the previous year.news 20160819

However, while the analysis revealed that there was significant increase in the Grade One to Three passes for English, it also showed a very noticeable decline in Mathematics.
