PRESS RELEASE: CXC Timetables should not be withheld from Students, owing to payment of fees for School-based activities

It has come to the attention of the Ministry of Education that some public and private schools have not yet provided ALL students sitting the 2013 Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) examination with their timetable.

Reports to the Ministry state that schools have withheld timetables, owing to payment of fees for school-based activities. This is not a welcomed practice of the Ministry of Education and as such, we are advising that schools reverse such actions and ensure that ALL CSEC Candidates be provided with their timetable in a timely manner.

We would like to emphasize that CSEC candidates should not be denied his or her right to uplift a timetable.

Thirteen thousand, six hundred and fifty-four (13,654) students have been enlisted to sit the CSEC examinations this year. The Ministry has recorded that some students are taking as many as twenty subjects at this sitting.

We take this opportunity to wish our students well and thank them, in advance, for making Guyana proud.
