Let's learn 100 words almost everyone confuses and misuses in 10 days.

OBJECTIVES
The Ministry of Education presents a 10/10-word challenge in celebration of Guyana’s 51st Republic anniversary. This challenge aims to provide an opportunity for all citizens to build their vocabulary skills by learning/relearning ten (10) often misused words. Participation in this challenge will significantly reduce the common errors we make in communication (both written and oral forms). The MoE seeks to clarify the correct usage of 100 high-frequency words in everyday use.

About the 10/10-word challenge

The 10/10-word challenge is designed to enlighten all citizen of 100 words, almost everyone misuses and confuses. These 100 words will be relearned over ten days. Each day, starting February 13, 2021, citizens are invited to learn ten often misused words. The words will be published on several media platforms, including but not limited to the Guyana Learning Channel and Ministry of Education Facebook page. Citizens are also encouraged to share the words using various media platforms available to them. (Words should be published in the morning programmes to allow or word challenges in the evening.

Citizens are invited to participate in daily word building activities to demonstrate their understanding and mastering the ten words. Citizens will be engaged through:

  •  Quiz of the day –Content will be provided by MoE (Ministry of Education’s FB page)
  •  Call in programmes
  • Send a voice note (target word will be given, and persons will be asked to send a voice note of a sentence showing the correct use of the word).

Book prizes will be given for correct answers. Names and contact will be solicited from winners.

Features

  • The word challenge begins on February 13 and concludes on February 22.
  • The ten words for each day will be published in the morning, no later than 09:00h daily.
  • In the evenings, between 16:00h to 18:00h citizens will be invited to participate in the different challenges on social media, Guyana Learning Channel, and demonstrate their understanding of the words' use.
  • Special book prizes are rewarded for correct responses given to selected challenges.
  • The contact details for persons who give the correct responses will be collected, and daily winners will be drawn. The winners will be announced on February 24, 2021, and prices will be issued from February 25 to February 26, 2021.
