Education Ministry stages Visual Arts Exhibition

As a part of Education Month celebrations, the Unit of Allied Arts of the Ministry of Education on Monday launched four-day schools Visual Arts Exhibition at the National Library, Georgetown.

The exhibition offers a variety of craft and paintings done by last year’s Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate (CSEC) Examination students. Art pieces in the areas of printmaking, textile design and manipulation, painting and mixed media, leather craft, fiber and decorating arts, graphics and communication design and ceramics and sculpturing are being showcased.
There is also a section that showcases floral designs and costume jewellery made by differently-abled children.
The event was coordinated by Visual Arts Coordinator, Rawle Franklin. The event was officially opened by Assistant Chief Education Officer, Secondary, Leslyn Charles who said visual arts is a subject that is incorporated in every other subject, and inspires thinking and creates social skills.
Schools from across the country have the opportunity to visit the exhibition that is opened from 09:00 hrs to 16:30 hrs daily.
