Radios provided for children in the remote Powaikuro Village

- attempt is to reach every child

The Government of Guyana through Department of Education Region one (1) Barima- Waini on Saturday handed over 23 radios to Powaikuro Village in region one. On a visit to the village two weeks ago, District Education Officer Mr Marti De Souza made a commitment to the parents that he would ensure that every household that has a child in school benefit from a radio where they can follow the educational programmes broadcasted on Radio Mabaruma through the National Communications Network (NCN).
Powaikuro is a very remote Warrau village in Region 1. There are approximately 54 school-age children most of whom attend the Lower Kaituma Primary School Annex. In addition to the radios, the Ministry of Education has provided print material including worksheets for learners in this region.
