Suriname’s Ambassador to Guyana pays a courtesy call on the Education Minister

Today Minister of Education Dr The Hon. Nicolette Henry, MP was paid a courtesy call by Resident Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Suriname His Excellency Ebu Rohno Jones.

During the interface, the two officials discussed areas of common interest within the education sector that the two countries can collaborate.

Ambassador Jones said that it is important that the two countries work to develop their human resources since this will be a key driver for development. Additionally, the Surinamese official said that his country has an interest in the way the MoE executes its hinterland education programme. Further, the Ambassador said that his country wishes to learn from the experiences of Guyana as Suriname executes its hinterland programme.

Minister Henry during her discourse with the official said that her ministry will undertake to work closely to achieve what was discussed. Dr Henry said that she is looking forward to bilateral relations between the University of Guyana and the University in Suriname.
