Region Two’s Children’s Mashramani Competition begins with Dramatic Poetry and Calypso

The Department of Education Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam) began its leg of the Regional Children’s Mashramani Competitions today at the Anna Regina Community Centre Ground.

Coordinator of the Region’s Children’s Mashramani Activities, Ms. Shondelle Hercules urged the students to perform their best since Mashramani is a time for students to showcase their talent.
Regional Executive Officer of Region two, Mr. Denis Jaikaran said that he was elated to be back in the region after a number of years. He expressed gratitude to the Department of Education for planning a well structured programme for the hosting of the competition over the next two days. news 20190129 4
He said that over the years, during this period, head teachers and teachers would have had the golden opportunity of discovering the talent of the children within the region.
In so doing, the REO said that teachers and Education Officers had the task of ensuring that the activities are well done.
Further, he said that many times emphasis is placed on what will be done at the different levels at assessments and examinations and that part of the child which has to do with their talent is often undiscovered and not given the opportunity to unfold and develop.news 20190129 5
According to Mr. Jaikaran, this particular activity is going to bring out that hidden talent of the children. The competitions continue on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 with Dance and Masquerade and end on Friday, February 1, 2019, with the Costume and Physical Display Presentations. The Region’s Costume Road Parade will be held on February 20, 2019.
