Chief Education Officer attends Regional Meetings of Ministers of Education

The Chief Education Officer (CEO) Mr Marcel Hutson recently represented Minister of Education Hon Nicolette Henry at a high-level Technical Meeting and also at the Regional Meeting of Ministers of Education of Latin America and the Caribbean in Cochabamba, Plurinational State of Bolivia.

The purpose of the meetings was to develop action recommendations and build consensus on regional cooperation to support member states in the development, financing and monitoring of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 4 which is to ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and to promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.
Further, the meetings were intended to craft a roadmap for Latin America and the Caribbean countries in response to the region’s realities, expectations and priorities. Additionally, it is hoped that the meetings will pave the way for the building and upgrading of education facilities that are child, disability and gender sensitive and provide a safe, non-violent, inclusive and effective learning environment for all.
The Education Ministers also discussed expanding globally the number of scholarships available to developing countries with a focus on technical and vocational training, Information and Communication Technology, Engineering and scientific programs.
