With 17% of $250B in budget 2017 allocated to the education sector, Education Minister Dr Rupert Roopnaraine announced in the national assembly a new medical school for the University of Guyana as well as ten new counselling rooms in secondary schools.

Guyana shines at CXC awards

Guyana shone on the big Caribbean education stage in Barbados Thursday night when two secondary school scholars and a school were awarded for outstanding academic performances at the Caribbean Examinations Council level.
President David Granger is urging citizens to hold strong to the value of fellowship, which is best exemplified at Christmas time. The President made these remarks yesterday at Onderneeming Village, West Coast Berbice, where he distributed Christmas gifts to over 300 children.
