Guyana shone on the big Caribbean education stage in Barbados Thursday night when two secondary school scholars and a school were awarded for outstanding academic performances at the Caribbean Examinations Council level.news 20161205 2

Poor performance in Mathematics is being considered a matter of national urgency by Government. This was the declaration made when Cabinet met on Tuesday.

It was underscored that the daunting performance requires Government’s focused attention and commitment to finding adequate and appropriate solutions in the shortest possible time

The Green Engineering syllabus

It was hailed as promoting “green thinking” in the Caricom region and the launching of the Green Engineering syllabus by the Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC) for its Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) in Guyana was deemed a timely move by the region’s education oversight body.Accordingly , the stage is being set for the development of the green engineer sector as young academics have already indicated their intention of pursuing careers in the that field of study.
