Promoted senior teachers undergo orientation exercise

…geared towards better-managed schools

Seventy-Two Senior teachers within the Georgetown education district are currently involved in a four (4) day orientation exercise at the Mirage Conference Hall in Georgetown. The teachers were recently promoted to various positions ranging from Head Teachers, Deputy Head Teachers, Senior Masters and Mistresses and Heads of Departments (HoD's) by the Teaching Service Commission (TSC).news 20191106 2

The teachers started functioning in their new positions at the beginning of this September school term. The Educators will be exposed to training in leadership, school management, record keeping and how to address disciplinary issues at their institutions.

According to Chief Education Officer (CEO) Dr Marcel Hutson, this session is imperative since it will allow for the smooth functioning of the schools. Further, Dr Hutson believes that there is a direct correlation between properly managed schools and acceptable 20191106 1

In addition, the CEO believes that it is good leadership at the level of the school that will translate into good grades from the learners.
