The University of Guyana (UG) was established by an Act of Parliament in 1963 and has approval to operate in Guyana by the Government.

The NAC of Guyana was established by an Act of Parliament which mandated that all post-secondary and tertiary institutions operating in Guyana must be registered with the NAC.
