Upper Mazaruni’s NGSA performers recognised

─ ministry provides scholarships and tablets

Two students of Upper Mazaruni (Region 7) were awarded tablets compliments of the Ministry of Indigenous Peoples’ Affairs. The students were awarded for their outstanding performances at this year’s National Grade Six Assessment (NGSA).

The awards were possible through collaboration with the Ministry of Public Telecommunications.

Jerohn Cornelius of Imbaimadai Village attained 388 marks and Ginessa Gomez of Paruima Village attained 458 marks. The students both earned spots at the Desery Fox Secondary School in Waramadong where they will commence their secondary education in September 20190807 3

The Indigenous Peoples’ Affairs Ministry has also provided scholarships for the two students ensuring they have the necessary access to quality education. The scholarship will cover the material needed for their daily attendance at school, among other critical aspects.

Minister of Indigenous Peoples’ Affairs, Hon. Sydney Allicock congratulated the students and encouraged them to continue to excel and make their community and their country proud.
