Min. Bulkan rewards 9-year-old Bartician

─schools also received cash grants; $100,000 for Two Miles Primary, $200,0000 for Bartica Secondary

In the height of the government outreach in Bartica on June 18, Minister of Communities Ronald Bulkan disbursed rewards from his ministry to well deserving students.

Standing out from her 194 peers in many respects was nine-year-old Faith Peters of Two Miles Primary School. Noteworthy was Faith’s stellar performance through a song at this year’s Republic Day celebrations. According to Minister Bulkan, Faith’s presentation was, “one that was not only entertaining [and] educational, but captivating when she performed a patriotic song.”

During remarks in front of a packed classroom of students and teachers, Minister Bulkan remained resolute on the Coalition Government’s commitments to the nation’s youth. news 20190619 2“Part of our work is to encourage our citizens, beginning with you the youngest ones to have a love, not only for your school and your teachers and your parents and your community but very importantly your country,” the Communities Minister proclaimed.

Head Mistress Ann Holmes also received a $100,000 cash grant along with posters on behalf of Two Miles Primary School under the Ministry of Communities’ Green Generation Campaign. news 20190619 3This government initiative’s slogan is to reuse, reduce and recycle. After accepting the items Holmes remarked, “we feel honoured and we are thankful.”

Meanwhile, headteacher of Bartica Secondary School Teeranie Gamell received $200,000 in cash grant for her respective school and stated her satisfaction in government’s support of eco-friendly activities at the school. Regional Executive Officer (REO) of Region 7 Kerwin Ward, was also present at the handing over of the cash grants.
