Comfort Sleep CEO gives joy to hundreds of children

news 20181210 18Christmas for many has been embraced as a season to receive rather than give, however, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Comfort Sleep, Dennis Charran, and his wife Sabita Charran, have proven otherwise.

Nearly 300 children in the Charran’s feeding programme were treated at the couple’s annual Christmas party on Saturday at the Aracari Resort. The festivities accommodate schools, and children’s homes on West Coast and West Bank area, with each child receiving a gift according to his/her age.
It has been ten years since the couple began the year round feeding programme to schools and children’s homes. The initiative later gave birth to the couple’s annual Christmas party. According to Charran, the programme in its genesis, only catered for 27 children. The number has now grown to some 600.
He further stated that the creation of the programme stemmed from his firm belief that no child should go hungry or endure the yearning for a meal at such pivotal ages.
“ I believe that no child should go hungry before bed; I believe that it is through these little things that we can make a difference… There are many children who are not as privileged and these little things make big differences in their lives.”
Charran conveyed that he is now proud of so many of the children that are in his programme and what they have achieved.news 20181210 17
“They are now in a position to help others just as they have been, he said.”
He further added that many of the young children that were once in his programme whilst attending school, are now established in impactful careers or attending universities. Akin to this, Charram noted that most of the students furthered their studies in the teaching profession where they themselves can perpetuate that kindness once meted out to them as children.
Students from the Malgre Tout Primary, Bagotville Primary and La Grange Primary were just some of the recipients that displayed their gratitude for the programme through dance, poetry and song.
The businessperson has also rendered notable contributions to the children of the Ruimveldt Children Home and Care Centre.
The Charran’s will be hosting a Christmas party on Sunday in Berbice targeting another 300 children in their feeding programme, along with an additional visit to the Ptolemy Reid Rehabilitation Centre on Wednesday.
“The joy that these children get when they see their presents is enough for me…to see those smiles… that innocent joy that you see is enough thanks for me…” Charran said.
