‘B’ Division Commander commits to assisting the less fortunate

news 20180903 5Outgoing B’ Division Commander Lyndon Alves who was recently appointed as one of the four Deputy Commissioners of the Guyana Police Force and who will now be heading Operations, on Friday gave his commitment to assisting the less fortunate.

The announcement was made at his final activity acting in the capacity of Commander.
Over 70 youths were selected throughout the region and were provided with bag packs and stationary supplies to start off the new school term.

Alves stated that the activity is in keeping with the Presidents vision of having the 5 B’s.
“We will have a follow-up programme to ensure that you go to school and remain in school and if we check and you’re not in school we will go home and find out why you’re not in school; is it that you don’t have passage to go to school you don’t have anything to put in your lunch bag is there a problem at home we will ensure you get to school, that is our commitment to you parents and the children”.
The Deputy Commissioner said that the idea is to ensure that the children are in school and are not consumed by the bad elements in society.
“It is for this reason that my office along with support from Magistrate Alex Moore and Republic Bank has taken the initiative to provide the back to school supplies”.
Speaking to the beneficiaries and providing words of encouragement, Alves relayed that it is desired that they grasp the opportunity given to them and to remain in school.
The students who received back to school supplies were drawn from the various areas in B Division and are those who the police would have taken responsibility for over the years.
