‘Road Safety Month’ comes to an end

news 20171202 1In a bid to raise awareness about safe driving, students from the various secondary schools and other organizations turned out in large numbers for a rally organized by the Region Ten Road Safety Association in partnership with the E Division Traffic Department.

The Awareness Rally, on Wednesday, commenced at the Linden Technical Institute Ground and proceeded through Linden and ended at the Mackenzie Sports Club Ground.
The rally was part of the 15th Road Safety Month celebrations which commenced on November 1, 2017 under the theme ‘Making roads safer for everyone starts with you; Observe, Think, Drive, a second is all it takes to save a life.”
On the route students shouted slogans and carried placards highlighting the importance of road safety and risks taken by drivers which end up being fatal.
Regional Chairman Renis Morian in his address admonished the students to make road safety an everyday way of life and to use the roads correctly.
Also attending the rally were the Police scouts, ranks of E Division Traffic Department and other stakeholders. Deputy Mayor Waneka Arindell and former APNU MP Vanessa Kissoon were also present.
