Region Ten Educators pulled out the stops in celebrating Teachers’ Week

news 20171009 1Teachers in Region Ten on Friday participated in a grand rally which started at the Linden Technical Institute and ended at the Mackenzie Sports Club Ground.

It was by far, the biggest event in celebration of Teachers’ Week, by Region Ten Educators, who pulled out all the stops in celebrating the week of activities.
The spectacular rally transformed Republic Avenue into a sea of colours, with teachers exuberantly exhibiting competitive skills in the fashion arena and choreography.
Many who lined the streets to see the colorful and exotic spectacle agreed that it was the best so far.
The event, which was supported by the Region Ten, Education Department is a signature event for Teachers’ Week. Teachers ditched regular uniforms for spectacular and colourful garments that told extravagant stories, which not even a sudden midday shower, could put a damper 20171009 2
The various schools were judged at the Mackenzie Sports Club Ground, where each sought to outdo the other with unique displays in dance moves and with one school even exhibiting the military precision marching, employed by the joint services.
One Mile Primary copped the best banner title while
Wisburg Secondary was adjudged winner in the Secondary, and Pine Street Nursery copped the coveted prize in their respective divisions.
The grand finale of the week was a karaoke hosted on Saturday night at The Grill on Greenheart Street.
Other activities that the teachers engaged in over the past week included a concert at Lichas Hall, a domino competition and a cookout at Rasville on Blue Berry Hill,Wismar.
During the cookout, which was deemed one of the more exciting activities, teachers competed for supremacy in the culinary department. All of the cooking was done on firesides and a few coal pots.
It was a fun filled activity with a few of Linden’s popular disc jockeys providing much needed musical entertainment.
