Education month exposition 2018 - schedule of activities

The month of September is designated Education Month and the Ministry of Education has planned numerous activities across the country in observance of this month. A schedule of the activities is attached below for your guidance and consideration.


1 Sept. 15, 2018 09:00 h Career Guidance, Science & Mathematics Fair - Focus on STEAMS L & D Resort
Kumaka -Mabaruma
Career Guidance will be done in the morning and afternoon session with the various agencies and departments
A Mini Fair on Science and Mathematics will also be held on STEAMS – (approximately five schools will participate): -
  • North West Secondary
  • Mabaruma Primary
  • Hosororo Primary
  • Wauna Primary
  • Barabina Primary
 2  Sept. 27, 2018  10:00 h  STEAMS Carnival   Anna Regina Secondary School  This activity will commence with a:-
  1.  March Pass
  2.  STEAMS

Essequibo Technical Institute Engineering

  • Secondary cluster –Technology and Science.
  •  Primary Cluster – Maths
  •  Nursery – Arts
  •  Cultural Programme:-
  • Calypso
  • Poetry
  • Dance
  • Drama

Items will include aspects of the Theme.

 3  Sept. 21, 2018  09:00 h  Career Explosion   West Demerara Secondary Career Explosion is considered as one of Education’s signature events.  This activity will be showcasing the benefits of networking, interview practice, job openings and Industry Information for both the proprietors and the learners.
 4  Oct. 4 – 5, 2018  10:00 h Career Extravaganza  Hope Secondary  The Career Extravaganza will be held for two (2) days and will comprise of the following:-
  •  Live production
  • Role play
  • Demonstrations
  • Information to showcase STEAMS
  • Video shows
 5  Sept. 27, 2018  10:00 h  Family STEAMS Festival Cenotaph Square

Fort Wellington

West Coast Berbice
There will be booths of the various areas of STEAMS to display how STEAMS can enhance day to day living.
6  Sept. 28, 2018  10:00 h Literacy & Numeracy Fair  Rosehall Town Primary Tarmac  

Schools will display booths showcasing areas of Literacy and Numeracy.

 7  Sept. 25, 2018  18:00 h  STEAM Display at Dormitories   Three Miles Secondary                           

The display of STEAMS Project by the Dormitory students will be based on topics from school as well as projects to solve real life issues.

 8  Sept. 26, 2018  09:00 h  Education Fair  Campbelltown Community Centre Ground  The Education Fair will comprise of the following: -

 Educational Games – Teachers will prepare the games

 Quiz – Officers and leaders will prepare the questions for the students.

 Lecture – Officers will be tasked with the preparation.

 Exhibition – Schools will be responsible for this segment.

 Cricket – Students

 Prizes will be given to participating students from each activity.

9 Sept. 28, 2018 10:00 h Education Exhibition Aishalton Secondary

Exhibition will be based on different aspects of ‘STEAMS’

Officers will be having Oral discussions on STEAMS

10 Sept. 28, 2018 09:00 h STEAMS in Explosion Mackenzie Sports Club Ground

STEAMS in Explosion will take the form of a Grand Rally involving:-

  • Dance
  • Poetry
  • Exhibits depicting the Theme will be displayed.

Lectures will also be done.

Georgetown Sept. 28, 2018 10:00 h Attendance Awards Ceremony National Cultural Centre

This activity will be held to recognize learners who would have outstanding Attendance and Punctuality for the Academic Year 2017 – 2018.

 Allied Arts  Sept. 30, 2018  16:00 h  ‘Amity’ A Schools Steelband Performance  Botanical Gardens This activity was designed to create a common platform for sharing Music, building friendships among the Steelband fraternity, the various stakeholders and for the general public.
