Cassy Crawford, a young mother, was today recognized as the best graduating student in the Ministry of Education, Department of Culture, Youth and Sports Youth Entrepreneurial Skills Training (YEST) Programme. She along with 84 other students recently completed their studies at the Sophia Training Centre where they were pursuing vocational programmes.

More empowerment training for youth in 2017

The Government of Guyana will continue with a variety of programmes to target youth unemployment in 2017.

Among those programmes identified are the Youth Entrepreneurial Skills Training (YEST), the Sustainable Livelihoods and Entrepreneurial Development (SLED) initiative which has been allocated $100M; the Hinterland Employment and Youth Service (HEYS) which has been allocated $991M and the Caribbean Vocational Qualification (CVQ) platform for certified training for out-of-school youth.news 20161201

The Sophia Training Centre’s (STC) twenty-ninth Youth Entrepreneurial Skills Training (YEST) programme began on May 16, 2016 with 105 trainees. The programme ended today with the awarding of certificates to 85 graduands (61 males and 44 females), who, despite challenges pursued their training to the end.news 20161125
