Hospitality management and customer service have come into sharp focus by the government. This was demonstrated in the establishment of the Guyana Public Service Staff College. Further, last year’s 50th Anniversary celebrations highlighted the need for additional persons possessing the skills of customer service and hospitality management. As a result, the Volunteer Support Platform (VSP) embarked on a partnership with the Carnegie School of Home Economics to train and certify young Guyanese in these two skill areas.news 20170331

In observance of International Volunteer’s Day 2016, the Ministry of Education Department of Culture, Youth & Sport through the Volunteerism Support Platform (VSP), gave of their time today by working with the children and the elderly from the Ptolemy Reid Rehabilitation Centre, Convalescent Home and the Palms Geriatric Institution. A group of nine volunteers from the Volunteer Support Platform travelled to Barbados today to participate in the Guyana/Barbados Youth Exchange Programme 2016. This completes the cycle of the exchange programme which was initiated In March of this year when a team of 25 young people from the Haynesville Youth Club in Barbados visited Guyana.
