The Ministry would also like to express appreciation to the volunteers, voluntary organizations, voluntary schools, clubs and groups that have worked with the VSP throughout year 2016.

This year International Volunteers Day is being celebrated under the theme “#GlobalApplause – give volunteers a hand”. Through this international campaign, the orchestrating of a round of #GlobalApplause seeks to recognize all volunteers everywhere and the contribution they make. The theme also encourages those who have not yet volunteered to join in and take part.

International Volunteer Day (IVD), on December 5th, was designated by the United Nations in 1985 as an international observance day to celebrate the power and potential of volunteerism. It is an opportunity for volunteers, and volunteer organizations, to raise awareness of, and gain recognition for the contribution they make to their communities.
