To provide opportunities for the display of talents locally and internationally.

Strategies:

  • Establishment of relevant clubs etc. to promote competitions, performances and exhibitions.
  • Establishment of mechanisms for participation of learners in inter-house, interschool, regional and international events related to the Expressive Arts programme.

Strategies for Achieving Goal #1V

Policy Goal 1V

To promote the integration of Expressive Arts and other subjects of the curriculum.

Strategies:

  • Inclusion of Visual Arts, Drama, Dance, Music and Physical Education and Sports on the timetable. The integrated approach must be emphasized at the early childhood level i.e Nursery to Grade 2, and continue through Primary and Secondary levels
  • until the appropriate time for specialization.

Policy Goal 111

To develop culturally literate learners who would have a better understanding and acceptance of their cultural heritage and that of others.

Strategies:

  • Development of school projects/school based assessments, which include topics related to cultural heritage and other relevant and historical aspects of the Expressive Arts.
  • Building coalitions with relevant associations reputable agencies/organizations and the media as a support mechanism to the Expressive Arts

Policy Goal 11

To develop in learners self-discipline, respect and tolerance, selfconfidence, teamwork and co-operation.

Strategies:

  • Application of the Non-Academic Standards to promote a learner friendly environment for the Expressive Arts.
  • Resuscitation and establishment of Regional and National Allied Arts/Expressive Arts Subject Committees.
  • Collaboration with the Health and Family Life Education facilitators in schools.
  • Operationalization of the learning/Community Resource Centres within the regions.

Strategies for Achieving Goal #1

Policy Goal1

To develop and increase knowledge and skills relevant to Visual Arts, Drama, Dance, Music, Physical Education and Sports.

Strategies:

  • Evaluation of Teachers Training Programme to ensure that it is placed on the formal curriculum as a compulsory subject.
  • Sensitization of educators, school supervisors, curriculum specialists, school administrators, parents and learners about the scope and interest of the Expressive Arts.
  • Continuous and systematic training programme for Heads of Allied Arts Departments and teachers to acquire knowledge and new and better ways of applying methodologies and technologies to the Expressive Arts programme.
