Government Cash Grant | Because We Care

The Government of Guyana this week began its Because We Care cash grant distribution in Region Two. For some persons who have lost their jobs due to the COVID-19 pandemic, suffered losses due to the recent flooding or facing other difficulties, the $19,000 per child meant a lot.

Over 97% of parents in Region Two uplifted the Government of Guyana’s Because We Care Cash Grant during a three-day rollout of the programme in the region that started on Wednesday and concluded today.

The Government has come in for high praise from parents in Wakapau Village, Pomeroon-Supenaam, for the ‘Because We Care’ cash grant initiative.

Minister of Education, Hon. Priya Manickchand MP says there will be no discrimination in the Government’s ‘Because We Care’ cash grant programme, as each child in the public school system will benefit.

Doreen Jacobus, a grandmother of five of Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam) says the money she received from the Government’s ‘Because We Care’ cash grant initiative will be used exclusively for her grandchildren’s education.
