-3300 more children to benefit
Hundreds of parents in Region One are now benefitting from the Government ‘Because We Care’ cash grant initiative which has been officially launched in the Region.
Minister of Amerindian Affairs Pauline Sukhai MP has assured residents of Baramita, Region One that they will not be left behind. The Minister gave the assurance as Government rolled out its ‘Because We Care’ cash grant programme in the region on Sunday.
Some $209 million of the Government’s ‘Because We Care’ cash grant was distributed to parents and guardians of children enrolled in the Soesdyke Secondary and St. Mary’s Primary schools, East Bank Demerara.

Minister of Home Affairs, Robeson Benn MP says while the ‘Because We Care’ cash grant initiative may seem modest, it is critically important to some families and he expects parents to invest the sum in their children.
Minister of Education, Priya Manickchand has announced that the eligibility deadline qualifying new entrants into the public education system for the Government of Guyana’s Because We Care cash grant has been extended to July 31, 2021.
