On May 6th, Chief Education Officer, Dr Marcel Hutson met with 53 Headteachers of Primary Schools in Region Six.

This is part of a series of meetings being held to highlight and discuss the performance of pupils at the National Grade Six Assessment mock examinations at each school and to explore avenues for improved performance at the Grade Six level.
Through a working session, ideas were generated for improvement. Headteachers informed the CEO that many of the ideas generated are in the process of being implemented and promised better results in 2022.

Dr Hutson went on to make a presentation on the role of Heads as instructional leaders for improved performance in their respective schools.
He further highlighted the importance of students accessing materials developed by the Ministry of Education to improve performance of pupils. These materials include past papers on the website, the Booster programme, the Whiz Kids show, lesson videos on Mathematics, Social Studies, Science and Language Arts via the Guyana Learning Channel.
Heads were commended for their efforts and were charged to pay keen attention to their literacy programmes particularly at the foundation level.
