(April 29, 2022) - The Chief Education Officer, Dr. Marcel Hutson visited Region Five today to conduct a development session with Primary School Headteachers with the aim of strategizing for improved performance at the National Grade Six Assessment (NGSA) 2022.

Each Headteacher presented their plan of action for improved performance. The session was very interactive and informative. The CEO went on to make a presentation on the role of the Headteacher as an instructional leader.

He further highlighted the importance of students accessing materials developed by the Ministry to improve performance. These materials include past papers on the Ministry’s website (www.education.gov.gy), the NGSA Booster programs and subject videos on Mathematics, Social Studies, Science and Language Arts via the Learning Channel.

Some strategies employed and encouraged by Heads of schools included: remedial classes, study groups, parent sessions, lesson quizzes and reviews, peer teaching, Mathematics challenges, answering past papers, demonstration lessons, short tests and distributing learning resources on each subject.
