...as Ansa McAL and MoE recognize region 10 NGSA top performers
The Ministry of Education and Ansa McAL today recognized the performances of the top ten achievers at National Grade Six Assessment (NGSA) 2019 from region ten. The event was held at the Linden Concert Hall and School (LICHAS) in McKenzie Linden. Present and to celebrate with the children was Minister of Education Dr The Hon. NicoletteHenry. The Education Minister said the children demonstrated the courage and determination which has allowed them to be apart of the appreciation ceremony and recipients of Ansa McAL's benevolence.
Notwithstanding her presence at the ceremony to celebrate with the region's top achievers, Dr Henry said she wanted to be placed on record as congratulating all the children that wrote NGSA 2019.Further, she urged parents to play a greater role in the education of their children. She said that education delivery is a collaborative effort and both the school and the parents/guardians have a vital role to play if the children are to perform at their optimum.
Touching on the education sector, Minister Henry noted that efforts are ongoing to ensure that all schools are positioned to deliver to ensure that good results are across the board and not only from the known schools. DR Henry opined that the current state of the education sector represents 'some amount of progress' and indicated that her Ministry will continue to work to improve the system for the benefit of Guyana's development.
Regional Education Officer (REdO) for region ten Mr Rabindra Singh told the award recipients that it matters not which school they will attend. Mr Singh believes that ultimately it will be the children's drive and determination that will derive success.
