The full return to face-to-face classes is scheduled to commence next Monday when the August school term commences, according to a memorandum seen by the News Room.

Primary school children in public schools across the country have started to receive all of the necessary textbooks needed to help their studies and President Dr. Irfaan Ali says that secondary school students will get their textbooks this year too.
Over the last three days, Guyana participated in the IX School Feeding Forum for Latin America and the Caribbean hosted in Barranquilla, Columbia.
The country was represented by the Ministry of Education’s School Feeding Coordinator, Mahendra Phagwah. During a discussion, he stated that the Government of Guyana is keen on ensuring that vulnerable children receive a meal every day and further highlighted the Government’s plans to expand the School Feeding Programme to better serve students in need.
To ensure the safety of students, the Ministry of Education will be enhancing the Road Safety Patrols programme in schools across the country.
On Wednesday morning, Chief Education Officer, Dr. Marcel Hutson met with Assistant Chief Education Officer for Health and Family Life Education (ACEO-HFLE) Carol Benn and other representatives from the unit along with representatives from the National Road Safety Council and the Guyana Police Force’s Traffic Department, to discuss a road safety plan of action.
On Monday, parents of Grade 10 students of the Westminster Secondary School in Region Three along with their children were briefed on the plan to launch the Secondary Competency Certificate Programme (SCCP) at the school.
Parents and students were briefed yesterday by Officers within the Ministry’s Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Unit about the different subjects the students will be exposed to and what will be expected of them.
