The establishment of Regional Youth Councils across the country, along with the formulation of a National Youth Counseling Programme, a Youth Entrepreneurial Framework, and Youth Apprenticeship Programme, are just a few of the ways in which the government has catered for the development of young people in the 2019 budget.

Government launches $50M innovation project for Youths

In an effort to empower youths with skills and knowledge, the government has launched the Youth Innovation Project of Guyana (YIPoG).

The Ministry of Education, through the Department of Culture, Youth, and Sports, will give youths the chance to come up with innovative solutions to address pressing issues and challenges in Guyana.

To ensure more persons are granted the opportunity to benefit from the newly launched Youth Innovation Project of Guyana (YIPOG), the Coordinators of the Youth Innovation Project of Guyana (YIPOG) are offering a gentle reminder that the closing date for submission of proposals is Friday June 30, 2017.

Linden youths have been encouraged to submit proposals for the Youth Innovation Project of Guyana (YIPG) which will enable them to qualify for grants maximum of $2 Million to start up their businesses.

The youths were reminded that their interest is of priority to Department of Youth which is under the Ministry of Presidency. As such, they were encouraged to use all opportunities to benefit from the plethora of programmes and funding that are available.

The Youth Innovation Project of Guyana, is the flagship project for the Department of Youth, funded by the Government of Guyana 2017 budget. It is a collaborative multi - ministry, multi - stakeholder project that includes governmental ,
regional, international, and corporate agencies.

Nicolette Henry at the inaugural convocation of the Youth Innovation Project of Guyana (YIPoG).
