  • CAPE launched at West Demerara Secondary School

    The Honourable Minister of Education, Priya Manickchand today launched the Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) programme that will be offered at the West Demerara Secondary School.

    (December 6, 2022) – The Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE®) programme has been extended to the Rosignol Secondary School in Region Five.

  • CAPE students receiving Because We Care cash grants

    The Ministry of Education this week commenced the distribution of the $19,000 Because We Care cash grants to Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examination (CAPE) students in the public and private schools. A total of 582 students are registered to receive the grants across the country. This includes 429 in the public schools offering CAPE and 153 from the private schools.

  • Care packages for students, teachers as schools set to reopen

    The Ministry of Education will be providing all teachers, students and cleaners returning to school with care packages containing masks, hand sanitizers, face shields and other items to ensure they remain safe before, during and after sessions.

    Though the logistics are still to be worked out, the People’s Progressive Party Civic (PPP/C), very much plans to honour its promise for the return of the $10,000 per child cash grant for children in public schools while contemplation is ongoing to have the programme extended to private school children as well.
