  • Education Minister distributes learning materials to several hinterland communities

    Last weekend the Honourable Minister of Education Priya Manickchand visited Baramita, Matthews Ridge, Port Kaituma, Mabaruma and Moruca in Region One (Barima-Waini). Accompanied by the Ministry of Education’s (MoE) Chief Planning Officer (CPO) Ms. Nicola Johnson and Ms. Sarah Browne, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Amerindian Affairs, Minister Manickchand also visited Imbaimadai, Kamarang, Paruima, Kaikan and Bartica in Region Seven, Cuyuni-Mazaruni.

The meeting focused on enhancing and expanding the services offered by the College particularly as the Ministry aims to increase the number of trained teachers in schools across Guyana.

    Education Minister Priya Manickchand met with teachers, parents, students and other residents of Aishalton in Region Nine (Upper Takutu-Upper Essequibo) on Wednesday, and numerous concerns were discussed. In discussion, Manickchand addressed the concerns made by the residents, briefing them about issues inclusive of the reopening of school and the provision of solar panels in the Region to ensure access to the Learning Channels, among other matters.
