  • "You are going to see Universal Secondary Education by 2025" – Minister Manickchand

    -        Yarrowkabra Secondary School is ahead of schedule with 65% of work completed

    (October 10, 2022) – With the construction of new secondary schools across Guyana, the Honourable Minister of Education, Priya Manickchand said that Universal Secondary Education will be a reality by 2025.

  • $566.9M contract signed for reconstruction of North Ruimveldt Secondary School

    (August 24, 2022) – On June 19, 2021, the North Ruimveldt Secondary School was destroyed by fire. On that day, the Honourable Minister of Education, Priya Manickchand said that the school will be rebuilt. Today, a contract with a project sum of $566.9M was signed for the reconstruction of the school.

  • National training for renewed curriculum begins

    (June 25, 2022) – The Ministry of Education has begun training teachers and pupils representing a wide cross section of schools at the primary level about the renewed curriculum.

  • The first Literacy and Robotics Programme launched at the Den Amstel Primary School

    (February 27, 2023) – The Ministry of Education through the National Literacy Department and the National Centre for Educational Resource Development (NCERD), launched the Literacy and Robotics Programme at the Den Amstel Primary School in Region Three today.

  • $ 5.5 million Smart Classroom commissioned at St. Stanislaus College

    (October 20, 2022) -The Honourable Minister of Education, Priya Manickchand on Thursday afternoon commissioned a Smart classroom at St. Stanislaus College.

  • $1.7Bil investment to transform Region Nine education delivery

    (February 22, 2023) – Education delivery in the Upper Takatu-Upper Essequibo region (Region 9) will see massive transformation with the construction of a modern secondary school at Karasabai.

  • $14 Million Nursery school commissioned at Kokshebai, Region Nine

    (February 22, 2023) – Pupils in Kokshebai, South Pakaraimas will no longer have to walk for miles to receive an education with the commissioning of a brand new school right in their village.

  • $161 million the Early Childhood Centre of Excellence commissioned

    (November 28, 2022) – Early childhood education is on the trajectory to be transformed with the commissioning of the Early Childhood Centre of Excellence at the University of Guyana, Turkeyen Campus.

  • $19M in steel pans handed over to 3 secondary schools

    The Three Miles Secondary School in Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni); the New Amsterdam Secondary School in Region Six

  • $1B secondary school completed at Parfaite Harmonie

    – Min Manickchand satisfied with work

    – to be handed over next week

  • $1B Westminster school expected to be completed this month-end

    The $1B Westminster Secondary School currently being constructed at La Parfaite Harmony, Region Three (Essequibo Island- West Demerara), is expected to be completed by the end of this month.

  • $200,000 awarded to winners of Friendship Youth Leadership Competition

    Eleven Secondary school-aged students from each district who were successful in the Friendship Youth Leadership Competition, on Friday, received $200,000 (US $1000) and other awards from the Ministry of Education and the embassy of the People’s Republic of China.

    Minister of Education Priya Manickchand witnessed the signing of the contract. She said the fire which gutted the school has had a devastating impact, even in the school being forced to reduce its intake.

    THE Ministry of Education on Tuesday began the distribution of the education cash grant across the country as parents of school-aged children turned up at schools to uplift their vouchers in the sum of $30,000.

  • $89 million Martyrs’ Ville Nursery School officially commissioned

    -       Another promise delivered

     (September 10, 2022) – A promise was made to the residents of the Martyr’s Ville Community on the East Coast of Demerara that a nursery school will be built in the community to relieve parents of the burden of taking their children to the Mon Repos Nursery School and the Good Hope Nursery School which are located further away.
