  • Hinterland teachers access better training opportunities with CPCE Online Programme

    EARLIER this year, the Cyril Potter College of Education (CPCE), the country’s only teachers training college, made a big step in going online; this not only instantly expanded the institution’s intake ability, but it also created many opportunities for persons who would have otherwise had difficulty with attending in-person classes.

    A new programme initiated by the Ministry of Education and the University of Guyana (UG) will open opportunities for teachers in hinterland regions to access university education.

These include the acquisition of a Fumes Cupboard, the increased supply of water to the dormitories, the provision of meals to non-resident students and the implementation of the Pastoral Care Initiative.

    The Ministry of Education (MOE), through the Guyana Improving Teacher Education Project (GITEP), today commenced the first of a series of intensive coaching focus group workshops aimed at further strengthening the quality of teacher educators at the Cyril Potter College of Education (CPCE) and the School of Education and Humanities (SEH), University of Guyana (UG).

    Today’s session was held at the CPCE auditorium and was attended by teacher educators from CPCE and its satellite centers countrywide, as well as, lecturers from the SEH, UG, both from the Turkeyen and Tain campuses.
