In an effort to reduce learning loss and facilitate a return to the classrooms, the Ministry of Education in collaboration with the Ministry of Health has launched the Government’s COVID-19 immunisation campaign for children 12 to 17 years old.

The Government of Guyana this afternoon received a donation of 146,250 doses of the Pfizer vaccine from the United States, which according to the Education Ministry is more than enough to cover Guyana’s school population of children above the age of 12-years-old.

Parents must give consent and accompany children for vaccination against COVID

In addition, to the need for parental permission to be granted for a child to be vaccinated against COVID-19, the Education Ministry and the Health Ministry are now requiring a parent to accompany the child when they have to receive the vaccine.
