QUESTIONS

MORAWHANNA SCHOOL

  1. Could the Hon. Minister kindly indicate the number of teachers working at the Morawhanna School and whether in her opinion this number is adequate to deliver quality education?
  2. Could the Hon. Minister state whether this is the full complement of teachers in keeping with what is stipulated for the number of children on enrolment at the Morawhanna School?

Answer

The name of the school in question is St Peter and Paul Primary School located in Morawhanna, Region #1. It is a Grade “D” multi-grade school.

  1. (i) The number of teachers working in the school is 3.
    • One Headmistress
    • One Senior Mistress
    • One Temporary Unqualified Master

The present enrolment of the school is 72.

According to the Non- Academic Standards, the establishment for staff is 1 Headteacher, 1 Senior Mistress/Master and 3 Assistant Mistresses/Masters making a total of 5. Two persons have already indicated their interest to teach at the school. They were advised to apply for the positions after which an interview would be done and forwarded to the Teaching Service Commission.
